Public Transport
If you need to travel to Wellington Regional Hospital, Kenepuru Community Hospital or Hutt Hospital (Hutt Valley DHB) there is a public transport brochure that identifies the public transport options available. You can call:

Kapiti Carers
Have volunteer drivers who provide transport; especially for older people that need support and assistance. The following donation amounts are appreciated:
- $10.00 for local medical appointments - Paraparaumu & Waikanae
- $30.00 to Kenepuru Community Hospital
- $50.00 to Wellington Regional Hospital
- $50.00 to Hutt Hospital - (Burns Unit, plastics etc)

CCDHB Shuttle Service
Patients and their caregivers / visitors can use the DHB shuttle van service to travel between Kenepuru and Wellington hospitals. This service is free of charge. You do need to book a seat on this service, preferably at least one hour before you intend to travel. This can be done by calling:

The service runs every hour on weekdays, with the first shuttles departing simultaneously from both sites at 7.00am. Departures continue each hour on the hour, with the final departure at 6.00pm.
The shuttle does not operate on weekends or public holidays and reduced schedules operate over the Christmas / New Year peak holiday period.
Departure Points
Kenepuru: Main public entrance to Accident and Medical Clinic
Wellington: Outside the main entrance door to the Wellington Regional Hospital.
Travel Times
Travel time is usually around 30 minutes, but can be up to 45 minutes as collections and deliveries are often made during the run.
We suggest that patients using the shuttle to travel to appointments notify clinic staff, so that appointments can be scheduled for 15 minutes before the hour, or on the hour.
Accessibility
Shuttle vans are not wheelchair accessible. If an accessible vehicle is required, please let us know when you make your booking and we will try to arrange for this. Please book at least 24 hours in advance.

Cancer Society Wellington
Provide local volunteer transport for referred cancer patients to treatment and appointments at Wellington Hospital and Kenepuru Hospital. Donations are appreciated. For more information please contact: (04) 389 0088 and ask for Driving Service.
Horowhenua Community Health Shuttle
This service operates 5 days a week, Monday to Friday from Levin Health Centre to Palmerston North Hospital. The fee is a donation. Envelopes and a donation box is available on the shuttle. Bookings are desirable. For more information please contact: 06 368 5519

Otaki RSA Coach
This service is available to all financial members. The coach services travels between Palmerston North and Wellington and is available for appointments and any other medical needs. Please contact Peter Clareburt: (06) 364 6221.
Otaki St John Health Shuttle
This service operates 5 day a week, Monday to Friday. For more information on this service please contact (0800) 589 630 - Option 2.
National Travel Assistance Scheme
Provided by the Ministry of Health
Provides assistance to people who are referred by their specialist to see another specialist and need to travel long distances or travel frequently.
